Objectives

 

 

This project has several objectives or milestones, which are:

 

• Creation of a webpage to show the developed project;

 

• Analyze the intake area of the poppet valve used in the engine in study;

 

• Theoretical development of rotary valve that would be possible to use in the same engine and calculate the intake area;

 

• Implementation of a trapezoidal shape instead of the rectangular one in the rotary valve and calculate the new intake area;

 

• Analyze the maximum intake area available when the valve slides from one edge to the other of the cylinder entrance;

 

• Check the evolution of the intake area of the trapezoidal valve in four different positions of its path;

 

• Compare all the previous points;

 

• Use Microsoft Excel for all the necessary calculations and present the graphs obtained;

 

• Elaborate a poster;

 

• Write a scientific paper presenting all the technical aspects in this innovative system;

 

• Make a final presentation.
